about

I was booked to play a show at a cool local coffee shop called Midnight Espresso. I had played there once before during the summer of 15' and was eager to be back. This would also be my first show working with Diplomatic Relations, a live music promotion company that helped build up the Peoria scene. The night would no doubt be a special one. Most shows are when you only play one or two a month. My friend Ethan came out with his camera.

I met Ethan at a Halloween house show I played. It was there that he took the cover photo for my debut album, Alcohol Is Gonna Kill Me Now, before I even knew I was going to put out an album. He's gifted with photography - usually I don't like looking at pictures of myself. It's a badass photo washed in red lighting and from the moment I saw it I knew it would be my album cover.

Anywho, when Ethan came out he asked me if I wanted pictures or a video of my set. I opted for video. He then told me that he could rip the audio from the video and I could put out a live album with it. I couldn't turn this opportunity down. I had been saying all year long that I wanted to release four albums this year and I have always been a huge fan of live albums. I tweaked my set a little bit. There were some songs that I've been sitting on for a couple years that I wanted to document and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so. It also enabled me to get a recording of Alcohol Is Gonna Kill Me in the key of D. The album version is in E. I took the stage around 9:00 PM on April 21, 2016 and had a blast. Ethan sent me the audio the following morning. He even threw in a cover photo too. The rest is history.
